Val Roberts

I am new to this field of profession so I'd like to take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Valarie Roberts, but most people call me Val (mostly because most people can't remember the correct spelling..*smiles*).

I live in Indiana and I am a full-time wife and mommy that hasn't worked for 10 years. During that time, I also became disabled to the point where I can not work outside of the home. But I have desperately wanted to start working again. After doing job searches for the last few months and being completely unsuccessful, I ran across some information about becoming a VA and working from home...thus my research took yet another turn and I'm inclined to confess that I have been 'sucked in' by all that I have found and read.

Although I do not have a formal college education...which I hope to remedy as soon as I can start working again...I found that I can do a lot of things that Virtual Assistants do. Because of my (should we say unquenchable) thirst for knowledge and always wanting to learn something new, (and because being a wife/mother also means being a secretary as well as a jack of all trades!) I have learned many of these skills by doing tons of research and teaching myself. The internet is wonderful!!

I would really like to put these skills to work for me and my family. I am starting out with next-to-no money and just the bare necessities needed to get off the ground. I am hoping that within the next few weeks, I can be up and running, but for the moment I am more interested in learning all I can while I work on my business plan. I am open to any and all suggestions, advice, ideas and even criticism (as long as it's constructive..*smiles*).
